National History Day Competition

2022-2023 School Year Competition

31 Academy students submitted 19 projects to the New York City History Day Contest this year. 
We are pleased to announce that  3 students were recognized for their projects at the city-wide competition.
 
Congratulations to the follow winners:
Erika Ofori-Amanfo won Best Project on African American History for her exhibit board "It's Not Just Hair" about the natural hair movement. She received particular praise from the Director of the Center For Brooklyn History because of the uniqueness of her project and detailed research and analysis.
 
Tatiana Perdomo won Best Project on Social Activism for her exhibit board about the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries. She did a fantastic project on a local topic that many are unaware of.
 
Kayley Khokar-Donohue came 3rd in her category for her performance "Pointed to the Stars" about Galileo and his invention of the Galileo telescope. She was amazing as she recited her lines from memory and acted out her research in front of a panel of judges.
