Yondr Pouches!!
If a student damages their pouch to a point where it does not lock or cannot secure the phone properly, they will have pay a $15 dollar fee to have it replaced.

If a student does not pay for the replacement, their phone will be collected each day.

There will be random pouch checks by the deans and staff to ensure the condition of the pouch is acceptable.

Parents will be informed by the dean’s office or a teacher if a student has a damaged pouch.

Please encourage your child to keep the pouch in good condition and to report any issues with the locking mechanism.

Important Update: NYC DOE Student Phone Policy

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope you are enjoying the final days of summer. As we prepare for a successful new school year, we want to inform you about the New York City Department of Education’s updated Student Phone Policy, which aligns with Chancellor’s Regulation A-413 and guidance from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) regarding the use of electronic devices in schools.

SAT SCHOOL DAY

SAT SCHOOL DAY SCHEDULE - APRIL 1 2026

Our school will be offering the PSAT to all 10th grade students and the SAT to all 11th grade students during the school day on Wednesday, April 1 , 2026 for FREE.

The PSAT and SAT are nationally recognized tests and are an important step towards college. The PSAT provides information on students’ strengths and weaknesses in reading, math, and writing. The SAT is an important step in your child’s college application process, and is required for admission to some 4-year colleges and universities.

We hope this PSAT/SAT administration will allow you and your child an opportunity to discuss their goals about college and their future career paths after high school.

You can learn more about the PSAT, SAT, and other College Board Assessments at SAT SCHOOL DAY. If you have any concerns about your child participating in the PSAT/SAT administration, please contact Ms. Cancryn at scancryn@schools.nyc.gov.

SAT PREP SPRING 2026 FOR JUNIORS

The Academy of American Studies will be offering an PSAT/SAT Prep class beginning Friday, February 13. The classes will be 2 hours long (from 3:15 pm - 5:15 pm) on the below Friday dates.

Friday, February 27
Friday, March 6
Friday, March 13
Friday, March 27

The in school SAT/PSAT will be given on April 1, 2026.

You must commit to attending all 5 sessions. If you cannot attend for any reason, you must e-mail AP Szalkiewicz DSzalkiewicz@schools.nyc.gov as soon as possible, preferably before class. Those of you on teams or in clubs will need to re-arrange your schedule to accommodate the SAT class.

We have a limited number of seats for this preparation class that will be assigned on a first come first served basis (with Juniors taking preference).
