PRINCIPAL PETITION - PLEASE SIGN!
As Q575 Academy of American Studies prepares for its 31st year of service to the deserving students and community of Queens, NY, the PTA, along with these undersigned petitioners, demand immediate action required from the Chancellor, the NYC Department of Education, Principal’s Union, and all necessary stakeholders to create a vacancy for a permanent principal to Q575 for the 2026-27 academic year. The removal of William Bassell in May 2025 has left Q575 administration, teachers, students, and extended community in an uncertain, unwarranted, unfair, and unjust condition. In order to re-establish the momentum, vision, and rigorous academic experiences Q575 can provide, deliver, and deserves, we hereby demand the reassignment of William Bassell to allow for the creating of a principal vacancy, the initiation of the C-30 process, and the subsequent appointment of a new full-time principal. Nothing short of this resolution is reasonable, or fair, to the Q575 community.
